OMEP NIGERIA ACTIVITIES

  • OMEP Nigeria promotes research on early childhood care and education.
  • Increases community awareness of the importance of early childhood care and education.
  • Committed to establishing Market and Community Day Care Centers.
  • Encourages community participation in early childhood care and education.
  • Trains and re-trains care givers, teachers, and parents to enhance service delivery.
  • Organises Annual Conferences/Workshops for Proprietors of private Nursery/Primary Schools, State/Local Government Education officers and other stake holders.
  • Promotes an integrated approach on the right of the Girl Child to education.
  • Advocates the creation and implementation of integrated policy approach with particular emphasis on age 0-3 years.
  • Annually marks OMEP CHILDREN'S DAY and also the Day of the African Child. (May and June respectively)
  • Engages in active membership drive

OMEP PARTNERSHIP

OMEP works in partnership with communities, governments, national and international NGO's, faith-based organisations and civil society.

Collaborates specially with Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Nigerian Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) and UNICEF.

*Collaborated with relevant stake holders in the production of National Minimum Standards for Day Care Centres in Nigeria, first ever National Policy on Integrated Early Childhood Development (IECD) and the National Curriculum on Early Childhood Education & Care.

OMEP Nigeria is a member of Nigerian Girl's Education Initiative (NGEI) Committee.
